A Groundbreaking, Live Membership Program Starting March 2025

Step into a transformational journey with Ashley Gilbert, (CEO of Financial Coaching Institute, LLC) and a small, dedicated group committed to mastering the art of wealth building.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This program is for ambitious individuals ready to take control of their financial futures. With a $7,000 or $8,000 initial investment of earned income into a Roth IRA, you’ll be given trade ideas in the hopes of growing this into $1,000,000 in this one-of-a-kind financial experiment. You may lose it all! Investing involves risk. This experiment is not for everyone!

WHAT YOU'LL GET:

Up to 31 Days of Education Before We Begin: Dive into comprehensive training starting January 2025 to prepare for successful trading.

Step-by-Step Setup Support: From account creation, to trading platform navigation, order entry, and backdoor Roth's explained, we’ve got you covered.

Live Trades Begin March 2025: You could begin trading with Ashley’s black box trade ideas using the tools and education provided. A black box trade idea produces a trade for buying and selling and members will not know the strategy and logic behind them. The trade ideas are not personal financial advice.

Ongoing Education for You: Ashley provides trade ideas to your carefully selected group and provides education for how to place the trades, adjust as needed, and take losses when needed. Each group is capped at 200 participants, and is designed based on trading personality and basic risk tolerance (we do not learn every thing about your financial situation). You realize you could lose all your principal and membership fees. This is a risky experiment. Only money that could be lost should be used to invest.

IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Initial Investment: $7,000/$8,000 (over 50) in earned income, placed in your personal Roth account. You place the trade ideas, as we never place the trades for you or have access to your trading account.

Account Setup Requirements: Apply for a Level 2 Schwab Brokerage Roth IRA Account (credit check may be needed). The minimum requirement is Level 1 to participate in the experiment. Ashley trains each member using the Think or Swim trading platform inside Schwab. Think you make too much? We have a step-by-step tutorial for the Backdoor Roth IRA upon acceptance into the experiment.

Monthly Fees (Starting March 1st 2025 or the 1st of the month following your successful application):$200/month, increasing as your account grows:+$100/month for every additional $100,000 earned, capped at $1,000/month for accounts over $800,000.

Upon reaching $1M, you’ll graduate, freeing up space for new participants from our waitlist.

BONUS BENEFITS:

Two Free Trade Ideas Annually: Use them anywhere, outside the experiment, as a thank-you for honoring the program's trading exclusivity and confidentiality.

Priority Waitlist Access: Can’t join this round? Stay on the waitlist and remain an active CFO Society member to secure access to the bonus benefits.

important rules:

Trading Exclusivity: Trade ideas must be done only within your agreed Roth IRA account, and shared with no one. Breaking this rule leads to immediate ejection.

Minimum Activity: You must complete at least two trade ideas per year to retain your membership.

Cancellation Policy: Cancel anytime with five business days' notice. The deadline to withdraw before we begin is February 25, 2025. After that you can withdraw and future payments will end, but no refunds will be given of membership payments already made.

"This experiment is about more than trying to make money—it's about creating a movement of investors who understand how to grow money, lose money, and manage wealth building responsibly. I’ve been wanting to do this unprecedented experiment for a long time, and I want members to do it inside their Roth IRA with hopes of achieving tax-free growth." - Ashley Gilbert, CEO

APPLY NOW

A Millionaire Experiment

An Experiment to Reimagine Wealth Creation

We are now accepting applications to A Millionaire Experiment, a unique membership designed to transform your approach to retirement investing. Our goal is simple but bold: provide trade ideas in hopes you can grow your Roth IRA with after-tax dollars, aiming for a life-changing $1 million balance.

Why a Roth IRA?

We chose the Roth IRA because contributions are designed to grow tax-free, and qualified withdrawals in retirement are income-tax-free. You must have earned income and pay taxes on the contributions. Unlike traditional 401(k)s or IRAs, where Uncle Sam takes a cut, every dollar in your Roth IRA can be yours by following the distribution laws and rules.

For those applicants whose income exceeds the current income limits, if approved for the experiment, step-by-step directions will be provided in a whitepaper explaining the backdoor Roth IRA method. This method makes everyone with earned income eligible up to the annual limits. Consult your tax professional for all current tax laws, limits, and regulations.

Membership Details

  • Eligibility: Members must have earned income to contribute to a Roth IRA. The experiment requires max funding for each Tax Year. Currently, $7,000 for those under 50, and $8,000 for 50+. There are no age restrictions.

  • Spousal Contributions: Non-working spouses may contribute through a spousal IRA. Eligibility Rules: To open a spousal IRA, you must, be married, file a joint tax return, have extra income in the household. The total contributions to your IRAs cannot exceed the taxable income reported on your joint return.

  • Self-Employment: Self-employed individuals are eligible to contribute based on their income.

  • Funding Requirements: Members must fully fund their Roth IRA ($7,000 if under 50, $8,000 if 50 or older) at the beginning of each tax year, ideally on January 2, 3, or 4, depending on the holiday schedule. For 2025, funds need to be available to trade on March 1st.

  • Extra Funds in Roth IRA: If there are additional funds inside your Roth IRA, you are asked NOT to use these funds for the trade ideas, and those balances are not included when calculating the membership fees.

Note: For those using the backdoor Roth IRA method, conversions may take up to two weeks for funds to become available.

Membership Structure and Benefits

  • Monthly Membership Fees:

    • If your account grows using the trade ideas, your membership fees increase based on the balance.

    • $200/month for balances up to $99,999.

    • $300/month for balances between $100,000 and $199,999.

    • Increments of $100 for every additional $100,000 until capping at $1,000/month.

    • Note: Fees are based on your contributions and potential growth of the account from the membership's trade ideas (and not existing balances).

  • Milestone at $1 Million: Once you reach a $1 million balance based on your contributions and growth, you will "complete the experiment" and make room for a new participant. Upon graduation from the experiment, your monthly membership fees with cease based on 10 business days’ notice before the 1st of the following month.

  • Exclusive Trade Ideas: Members receive trade ideas via email and text (carrier rates may apply), matched to their investing personality and risk tolerance. There are limited spots available, 200 for each personality/risk profile. Once filled, you may be put on our waitlist.

  • Risk Warning: Members are responsible for placing trades and managing their accounts. Losses can occur to the extent of the full investment and all membership fees, and past performance does not guarantee future success.

Examples:

  • For example, if you are 31 years old at the start of the experiment, using earned income to contribute $7,000, $7,500, and $8,000 for three years (assuming current max contribution and $500 increases for the next two years), pay $2,400 in membership fees each year, and the trade ideas result in your account going to zero, your lose would be a total of $29,700 with $22,500 in Roth IRA contributions and $7,200 in three years of membership fees. Your money is at risk at all times.

  • For example, if you start the experiment at age 49 contributing for two years with $7,000 for the first year, and $8,000 for the second year, and the trade ideas with you investing this $15,000 results in a full loss, you would lose an additional $4,800 in membership fees, for a total loss of $19,800.

  • For example, if you are 65 years old and have earned income and contribute for 5 years (assuming an average annual contribution of $8,600 for those 5 years), pay $2,400 in membership for four of those five years, and $3,600 for the final year, and then your account goes to zero, that is a total loss of $56,200 - with $43,000 lost from Roth IRA contributions and $13,200 in membership fees.

Expectations for Members

  • Trade ideas are sent in "black-box" format: you’ll receive instructions on how to enter, adjust, and close trades and will not receive an explanation of the underlying strategy, logic, or reasons for the trade.

  • Trade ideas must only be executed in the designated Roth IRA account.

  • Members must provide regular balance updates and trade executions to help track progress. Details to follow upon acceptance into the experiment.

  • Sharing trade ideas outside the membership is prohibited. Violations may result in removal, legal resolution, and complete termination of the experiment.

  • Members are expected to follow Schwab’s Roth IRA requirements and try to secure Level 2 options trading access (which may include a credit check). Members must be approved for at least Level 1 to participate in the experiment. If your application is accepted with Financial Coaching Institute, LLC, but declined for at least Level 1, then you will not be able to join the experiment.

  • Here are some other notable rules from Schwab: to apply for IRA margin and Spreads (Level 2) with Charles Schwab, you must meet the minimum account equity requirement of $25,000. This balance can be made up of cash, marginable security positions, sweep money market funds, or a combination of these. You also have to get approved for Limited margin. There is no equity or balance requirement for Level 1.

  • What is Limited margin? "Limited margin" in a Roth IRA refers to a special trading feature that allows investors to use the proceeds from unsettled trades (money from recently sold securities that haven't yet settled) to buy new securities, essentially giving them more flexibility to trade actively within their IRA without violating cash account restrictions, while still not allowing them to borrow money or leverage like a standard margin account does; meaning they cannot short sell or create a debit balance in their Roth IRA.

Contingency Policies

  • Experiment Closure: We reserve the right to close the experiment at any time. If the membership closes mid-month, you will not be billed for the following month, but refunds for the current month will not be issued.

  • Cancellation: Members may cancel their membership at any time and will not be invited to rejoin the experiment.

Commitment to Self-Discipline and Success

This journey requires patience, commitment, and a willingness to trust the process. We understand that not every trade will yield a profit, and you may face setbacks, including full loss of investment and membership fees. Trade losses will occur.

While we love go-getters, we ask that you pause on any further actions steps until you receive contingent approval in the Experiment. At that time, based on your application answers, you will receive next steps, questions for your financial and tax professionals, and tutorials with questions for Schwab for opening a Roth IRA (including backdoor Roth IRA), transferring already funded accounts to Schwab, etc. We ask for your patience as we don't want an improper action taken while you wait to prevent your final acceptance into the Experiment.

Additional Resources

There are two primary steps to get into the experiment: 1) Submit an Application to us. Based on your responses, we will send tutorials for next steps. 2) If approved with us, you will need to apply for and be approved for at least Level 1 when it comes to options trading access with Schwab. If unable to get this access to Schwab, you will not be able to participate in the experiment. We are not affiliated with Schwab nor benefit from your account opening.

If you’re not selected for the experiment for either of these reasons, we offer:

  • Rewire for a Wealthy Brain Course: Empower your financial mindset and habits with spending, saving, and investing.

  • CFO Society Membership: A premium membership community for ongoing and advanced financial education.

  • Win-Win Investing Course: Learn strategies for investing in up or down markets as a do-it-yourselfer.

We allow our contractors, creators, and consultants to trade securities that they may hold themselves as a paying member of our membership. They must wait until subscribers have had a fair opportunity to exit or adjust based on the receipt of a closing or adjusting trade idea's communication. The waiting period may also depend on the type of guidance or adjustment. We have a "do not trade list" of individual stocks and funds, based on what is deemed insider knowledge. Since we will be placing all trade ideas in our business account and/or personal retirement accounts, our trades will never use a stock from this "do not trade" list. For example, since we are using Schwab brokerage, we will not trade Schwab brokerage stock (ticker symbol SCHW) or their options.

Note on Risk: Options plays can be volatile, and all involve considerable risk. Although these ideas are well-researched, nothing is guaranteed. Investing involves risk. Since this is an experiment, don’t bet your mortgage/rent/grocery money here. Remember, it’s up to you to decide to execute the trade. Please be sure to use emergency exits when provided and set up alerts, and don’t put all of your money into one trade.

FAQ for A Millionaire Experiment Application

Overview of A Millionaire Experiment

1. What is A Millionaire Experiment?
A Millionaire Experiment is a unique membership program designed to provide participants with trade ideas in an attempt to help grow their Roth IRA accounts using after-tax dollars, aiming for a $1 million balance.

2. Why is the Roth IRA chosen for this experiment?
Qualified Roth IRA contributions grow tax-free, and qualified withdrawals in retirement are income tax-free. This allows participants to keep every dollar they earn in the account, if they follow distribution rules.

3. What if my income exceeds Roth IRA income limits?
If you exceed the income limits, you can still participate by using a backdoor Roth IRA. Step-by-step directions will be provided in a tutorial, if your application is approved. Consult your tax professional for any questions.

4. What are the two main steps to participate?

  • Complete the Application for A Millionaire Experiment: This includes providing required information and verifying your eligibility. We ask that you are completely honest about who you really are when answering your personality profile & risk questions versus how you ideally want to be as a trader/investor.

  • Open and Max Fund a Schwab Roth IRA: You must open a Roth IRA account with Schwab, fully fund it based on your eligibility ($7,000 if under 50 or $8,000 if 50 or older), and secure at least Level 1 options trading access using the Think or Swim trading platform.

Note: Failing to complete either step can prevent you from participating in the experiment.

Membership Eligibility and Details - Consult a financial/tax professional to confirm current laws.

5. Who is eligible to apply?

  • Individuals with earned income, regardless of age

  • Non-working spouses (through spousal IRA contributions)

  • Self-employed individuals based on their income

  • Consult your tax professional with questions

6. What are the spousal contribution rules? (Consult a tax professional to confirm current laws)
To open a spousal IRA, you must:

  • Be married and file a joint tax return

  • Have sufficient taxable income in the household

  • Ensure total contributions to both IRAs do not exceed the taxable income reported

7. What if both my spouse and I want to apply?

Both you and your spouse must submit separate applications, pay individual membership fees, and complete all conditions and terms independently. Each person must commit to not sharing trade ideas, instructions, or account details with each other. Additionally, you and your spouse may be placed in completely different risk profiles or experimental groups based on your individual applications, ages, and preferences.

8a. What are the funding requirements for the Roth IRA?
You must fully fund your Roth IRA at the beginning of the tax year:

  • Current contribution limits: $7,000 (if under 50)

  • $8,000 (if 50 or older)

  • Funds should ideally be available on January 2, 3, or 4 (depending on holidays). For 2025, funding is required by March 1.

8b. What if I have already max funded my Roth IRA for this Tax Year?

Great! You want to make sure those funds are available to trade by March 1st, or the 1st day of the month that your membership begins.

8c. What if my Roth IRA is at another brokerage?

If your Roth IRA is at another brokerage and you need to transfer it to Schwab, you can do so through a process called an IRA Transfer. There are seven small steps and three key notes included in our checklist with questions for your current brokerage and Schwab for completing your IRA Transfer. For example, one key note is: A direct transfer from one Roth IRA to another Roth IRA is not considered a taxable event, as long as the transfer is handled correctly and doesn’t involve you taking possession of the funds. When completing your application, let us know you need this IRA Transfer Checklist.

Membership Fees and Structure

9a. What is the membership fee structure?

  • $200/month for balances up to $99,999

  • $300/month for balances between $100,000 and $199,999

  • Increases by $100 for every additional $100,000 until capping at $1,000/month

Fees are based on your contributions and account growth from trade ideas, not existing balances.

9b: How much could I lose including my membership fees in 3 years?

  • For example, if you are 31 years old and contribute $7,000 for three years, and pay $7,200 in membership fees, if your account goes to zero based on the trade ideas, you can lose your entire investment of $21,000 and $7,200 for a total loss of $28,200. Investing involves risk and there is no guarantee of returns.

10. What happens when I reach a $1 million balance?
If your Roth IRA balance reaches $1 million due to the experiment’s trade ideas, you "graduate" from the program, and your membership fees stop. You must give 10 business days' notice before the 1st of the following month.

Trade Ideas and Program Rules

11. How are trade ideas delivered? Will the trade ideas include explanations?
Trade ideas are sent via email and text message (standard carrier rates may apply). We are not responsible for service provider delivery issues.
There are no explanations. Trade ideas are provided in a "black-box" format with instructions for entering, adjusting, and closing trades, without disclosing the underlying strategy, logic, or reasons for the trade.

12. Can I place other trades outside of the experiment?
Yes, but only with funds unrelated to the experiment's contributions and earnings. The trades in your designated Roth IRA related to the experiment must follow the program’s guidelines. These trade ideas cannot be used for other money inside the designated Roth IRA, other accounts, or shared with others.

13. What is expected from participants?

  • Fully fund your designated Roth IRA (do a backdoor Roth IRA, if necessary) & consult with tax professional

  • Pay membership fees based on designated Roth IRA balance

  • Execute trades in the designated Roth IRA account

  • Provide regular balance and trade updates

  • Follow all Schwab trading requirements, rules & laws

Account Setup and Access Levels

14a. Do I need a Schwab Roth IRA account?
Yes. You must set up a Schwab Roth IRA and use the Think or Swim trading platform to execute the trades. If you are restricted or limited in opening an account (cannot get Level 1 access) with Schwab, you will not be able to participate in the experiment. We will be providing a tutorial for questions and general steps to ask your financial institution and/or advisor to transfer an existing Roth IRA to Schwab. Consult your financial institution and Schwab for the specifics.

14b. Can I have multiple Roth IRA Accounts? Yes, you can have multiple Roth IRA accounts at different institutions. There are no limits to the number of IRAs you can have, but there are annual contribution limits. For example, let's say you are 53, you can contribute a total of $8,000 to all IRAs (including traditional and Roth's). You cannot contribute $8,000 to a Traditional IRA, and then $8,000 to two different Roth IRAs. The limit applies to the total contributions across all your Roth IRA accounts, not per account. So, if you have multiple Roth IRAs, you must ensure the total contributions across them don't exceed the annual limit. For the experiment, when you max fund your Roth IRA with Schwab, you cannot contribute to another Roth IRA or traditional IRA. You should consult a financial advisor about your particular circumstances.

15. What options trading level is required?

  • Level 1: Minimum requirement to participate

  • Level 2: Recommended for participants with balances of $25,000 or more

  • Note: For those with Roth IRA balances of $25,000 or more, only the experiment's annual contributions and possible earnings are to be traded with the trade ideas from the membership. For example, if you are 40, and fund your designated Roth IRA with $7,000 and your account already has $55,000 in it, the trade ideas from the membership can only be employed by the $7,000. You are free to trade the other money as you decide, just not using the trade ideas provided.

16. How do I apply for Level 2 options trading access?
You must:

  • Have a minimum account equity of $25,000 in your designated Roth IRA (either through previous funding, rollovers, or conversions)

  • Apply for and accept Schwab’s Trading Options Spreads in Your IRA Authorization Agreement (may require a credit check)

  • Obtain approval for Limited margin.

  • Wait to apply with Schwab until first contingently accepted into the Experiment. Tutorials to follow for general steps and questions to ask your financial and tax professionals.

17. What if I’m denied Level 1 access?
You won’t be able to participate in the experiment without at least Level 1 access.

As an investor, you yourself bear the full responsibility for your individual investment decisions.

19. Are the trade ideas guaranteed to be successful?
Absolutely not.
While trade ideas are well-researched, success is never guaranteed. Options trades and plays can be volatile and should not be funded with money meant for essentials like housing, groceries, or non-discretionary income.

20a. What happens if the program closes?
All membership fees are charged on the 1st of each month. For example, if the experiment closed mid-month, you will not be billed for the following month, and refunds for the current month will not be issued. If the program closes, you will no longer receive trade ideas and will be released from all rules and protocols regarding the experiment. All contributions and earnings in the account can be traded as you see fit.

20b. What happens if I graduate the program? All membership fees are charged on the 1st of each month. For example, if you graduate from the experiment on the 7th of the month, you will not be billed for the following month, and refunds for the current month will not be issued. Upon graduation, you will no longer receive trade ideas and will be released from all rules and protocols regarding the experiment. All contributions and earnings in the account can be traded as you see fit. Investing will always involve risk.

20c. Can I cancel my Membership in the Experiment? Members may cancel their membership at any time, we ask for five business days notice before the 1st, as there are no prorated refunds, and former members will not be invited to rejoin the experiment.

Additional Resources

21. What resources are available if I’m not selected for the experiment?

Investing involves risk.

Privacy and Conduct

22. How is my personal information used?
Your information is used solely for administering the program and is protected according to Financial Coaching Institute, LLC’s privacy policy.

23. Can contractors or staff trade the same securities as participants?
Yes, we allow our contractors, creators, and consultants to trade securities that they may hold themselves as a paying member of our membership. However, our policy prohibits any exit from a personal trade (before the rest of the membership has been told), especially while a trade to members is still open. They must wait until subscribers have had a fair opportunity to exit or adjust based on the receipt of a closing or adjusting trade idea's communication. The waiting period may also be extended depending on the type of guidance or adjustment. We have a "do not trade list" of individual stocks and funds, based on what is deemed insider knowledge. Since we will be placing all trade ideas in our business account and/or personal retirement accounts, our trades will never use a stock from this "do not trade" list. For example, we will not trade Schwab brokerage stock (ticker symbol SCHW) or their options. All attempts will be made not to use any part of a trade sent to our membership for personal benefit outside these named accounts. Should an error be detected upon an audit, proceeds from taxable accounts from the trade will go to a charity of our choice. For example, option spreads can involve four parts or legs, should we accidentally trade one or more of these legs in another taxable account, we will alert the participant group(s) affected and make them aware of the mistake. Should profits occur from that trade, we will also disclose how much and which charity received the benefits. We will try our best not to make this mistake, and we recognize we are human and will continue to trade advanced other strategies in our accounts.

Contact and Communication

24. How will I receive program updates?
You will receive updates via email or SMS. It’s your responsibility to ensure your contact information is current and payment method is up-to-date.

25. Who can I contact if I have questions?
General customer service questions can be addressed, but our team cannot provide personalized financial advice. Ashley@financialcoachinginstitute.com

26. Is there a relationship between A Millionaire Experiment and Schwab?
No, there is no relationship, partnership, or affiliation between A Millionaire Experiment and Schwab. Schwab does not endorse or manage this program in any way. Participants are responsible for setting up and managing their Schwab Roth IRA accounts independently.

We will never ask for your password to your Schwab account, and the program will not include trades involving Schwab stock.

27a. How long after submitting my application will I find out if I’m accepted?

Applications are reviewed in batches, and the process could take up to six weeks. New participants begin the 1st of each month, so depending on your funding process and account set-up, it could take longer. Final acceptance is contingent upon meeting the Schwab account requirements, including opening and funding a Roth IRA with at least Level 1 options trading access. You will be notified of either your contingent status, denial, or waitlisted status once the review is complete. Please apply first, and wait for the appropriate next step directions to be sent.

27b. What can I do while I wait?

This journey requires patience, commitment, and a willingness to trust the process. While we love go-getters, we ask that you pause on any further actions steps until you receive contingent approval in the Experiment. At that time, based on your application answers, you will receive next steps, questions for your financial and tax professionals, and tutorials with questions for Schwab when opening a Roth IRA (including backdoor Roth IRA), transferring already funded accounts to Schwab, etc. We ask for your patience as we don't want an improper action taken while you wait, to disqualify you and prevent your final acceptance into the Experiment. The only action we suggest is to THINK about where your max contribution and membership fees will come from. You could review your monthly spending plan for savings and ways to pay for the monthly membership fees and max fund your account. For example, please do not go and open and fund a new Roth IRA account. If you are outside the income requirements, and needed to do a backdoor Roth IRA instead, you could create more work by having to pay your tax professional to recharacterize it and you may face penalties. Please be patient.

28. What happens if I am placed on the waitlist?

If all spots for your investing personality or risk profile are filled, you may be placed on the waitlist. Being waitlisted means you will be notified if a spot becomes available. Applicants are placed on the waitlist in the order their completed applications are received. Waitlist times can vary, and acceptance is not guaranteed. However, you will have the opportunity to join as soon as a spot opens up for your profile. Further instructions will be provided upon notification of your waitlisted spot.

You must agree to these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully and consult financial and tax professionals should you have any questions:

You also recognize that prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. Thus, the results obtained by others – whether clients of the Company or otherwise – applying the principles and trade ideas set out in this website and experiment are no guarantee that you or any other person or entity will be able to obtain similar results. We are not responsible for communication errors, outages, or spam with service providers or third-party companies when it comes to receiving trade ideas communications. You are responsible for ensuring your contact information is up-to-date as well as your membership payment method.

Although our team may answer general customer service questions, they are not licensed under securities laws to address your particular investment situation. No communication from our team should be deemed as personalized financial advice.

We allow our contractors, creators, and consultants to trade securities that they may hold themselves as a paying member of our membership. However, our policy prohibits any exit from a personal trade (before the rest of the membership has been told), especially while a trade to members is still open. They must wait until subscribers have had a fair opportunity to exit or adjust based on the receipt of a closing or adjusting trade idea's communication.
